Port Blair, July 03: Despite being the only referral Hospital of these Islands, four Air Conditioners of Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital were not working inside the Dialysis Unit since past several months.
Patients claimed that long hours inside Dialysis room without AC, makes the Dialysis process more painful for them, some even complained Andaman Sheekha about it and also reported this matter to prominent Political Leaders.
The matter was today taken up by the present Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, and Ex-Member of Parliament of the Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray. Andaman Sheekha also took up the matter with the DHS, who is also looking after the charges of MS. Following this, some Air Conditioners were finally repaired, bringing big relief for the dialysis patients.
Andaman Sheekha met the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Omkar Singh to know the reason behind the delay in repairing the Air Conditioners to which he replied that it wasn’t in his knowledge.
“Once the matter reached my table I immediately took cognizance of it and 03 ACs were repaired yesterday itself, I have sent a note to concerned unit to replace the ACs as all ACs are too old,” Dr. Singh added, who actually took immediate step and managed to repair atleast three ACs of Dialysis Unit.
