Port Blair, July 01: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has requested the Secretary (Health), A&N Administration to restart Blood testing and X-Ray facilities at PHC Tushnabad as the same was stopped since March, 2020 in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. He said that in absence of such basic medical facilities, the general public including oldage persons, children, pregnant women etc residing in the villages under 04 Gram Panchayats i.e. Tushnabad, Collinpur, Mithakhari and Namunaghar who are more than 20,000 (approximately) are facing great difficulties. For the purpose of Blood testing and X-Ray, the patients have to come to GB Pant Hospital covering at least 25 kms journey.
Moreover, all the COVID positive cases are kept in GB Pant Hospital, therefore it is high risk for spreading of COVID in GB Pant Hospital and due to which GB Pant Hospital is also over crowded. Therefore, he requested to resume the blood testing and X-Ray facilities at PHC Tushnabad for the health care of the visiting patients at the earliest.
