Port Blair, Sept 20: A suspected illegal abortion case has been reported from Diglipur Island. According to sources a medical professional, who does not have a MBBS degree, had performed this illegal abortion last month but something went terribly wrong and the patient developed post operation complications.
According to report the illegal operation was carried out on 28, August 2012 by Mr. Nikhil K Roy, B.sc, D.M.S. B.I.A.M, B.D.A.S., Kolkata but after nearly one month, today, when the situation went out of control and the lady got excessive bleeding, she was rushed to Community Health Centre (CHC) Diglipur.
It has been learnt that the matter has already been reported to the Director of Health Services and the Dy.S.P, N & M Andaman. Sources added that the Mr. Roy has been called in PS Diglipur by Police for interrogation this evening.
Reports added that the lady had gone for abortion as she had some family dispute with her husband.
