Port Blair, June 21: An ANM working under NRHM at Health and Wellness Center, Shastri Nagar, Campbell bay was attacked by a person of Shastri Nagar yesterday with a machete.
According to reports the attack took place in the afternoon yesterday when the ANM, Ms. Bichitra Roy was carrying out door to door health check up related to Corona Pandemic.
As per details suddenly the accused Mr. Somra Ram attacked her for some unknown reasons. Luckily the victim was alert and only because of which she survived the deadly attack. However, in the attack she suffered injuries on her forehead, face and in right side of her waist.
When the victim cried for help some workers working nearby rushed for help and gave her first aid. Soon she was shifted to PHC Campbell Bay, where the victim got 24 stitches.
The accused however managed to escape from the scene and hid inside deep forest. The Police has registered a case of attempt to murder in this regard and a search for the accused is still on. The reason behind the attack is still not known. The victim hails from Diglipur Island.
