Port Blair, June 10: The President, Island Protection Forum, Mr. MT Mustafa has expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. T.S Gopa Kumar, Administrative Officer, ICMR, Chennai for issuing Identity proof to Mrs. Priya Bala Poddar a recovered COVID-19 patient of Andaman, who lost all her documents and ID Proofs, when she was admitted in the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai for COVID19 treatment.
As per reports, Mrs. Priya Bala Poddar approached several times to the Andaman Nicobar Administration and the DRC Chennai requesting them to issue Identity Proof so that she can travel back to Port Blair from Chennai but she was not provided any assistance.
Hence, the President of the NGO IPF, Mr. Mustafa who was in the constant touch of the lady approached Mr. T.S Gopa Kumar, Administrative Officer, ICMR, Chennai who was earlier posted in Andaman, for help in this case.
Soon after the request was made Mr. T.S Gopa Kumar, issued an identity proof to the lady as a result of which she landed Port Blair on 08th June 2020 in an Air India flight.
IPF has also thanked Ms. Priya and Ms. Ambika, President and Secretary of NGO India Social Awareness Society, Chennai, who provided support to the family of the lady as and when required.
Only with the assistance of the aforementioned NGO, IPF provided ration items and other necessary things the family required while they were in-home quarantine.
