Port Blair, May 19: Mr. Murali Krishna, the Chief General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Andaman and Nicobar Islands who earlier claimed that there is problem for the BSNL in extending the CANI Optical Fiber Cable facilities within 02-03 weeks after the lockdown, is now having an entirely different statement on the matter, which has disappointed many Islanders.
In an interview given to the DDK Port Blair yesterday, the CGM, Mr. Murali Krishna has cleared the public that the CANI project is going to take time while it will take another 06 months for the islanders to experience 4G in their mobiles.
The contrasting statement has irked several islanders especially the students and people coming from the business background.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the state spokesperson, BJP, Dr. TK Jijith Rekh said that the statement of the CGM BSNL in the DDK Port Blair was baseless.
Dr. Jijith said that in the BSNL’s website itself, they have mentioned that the segment one of the CANI project is completed, “Segment one means Chennai to Port Blair and from Port Blair to Diglipur that channel is connected, hence, if the BSNL extends the facilities of segment one, more than half the population of the islands will be covered, hence, they must start the segment one,” demanded Dr. Rekh.
The state spokesperson, BJP, Dr. TK Jijith Rekh is also spearheading an online campaign on this subject and he is getting huge support from the youths of these Islands, in social media platform.
The BJP state spokesperson further added that as per the information he is having from the insiders in the BSNL, the trial of the segment one is done 04 times in the past and if the BSNL wants, within half an hour the facility can be extended, “God knows why they are not extending the services,” Dr. Jijth .
The islanders are now extremely disappointed and are finally requesting more clarity in this matter. The Islanders are demanding an official statement from BSNL in written so that every other day top officials can’t change the statement. The Andaman and Nicobar Administration should also come out with a press release in this regard to clarify all doubts of Islanders, who are anxiously waiting for this CANI OFC facility.
