Port Blair, May 10: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands has taken up the matter with the Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands informing that due to imposition of unprecedented lockdown from 20.03.2020 in these Islands, the Islanders are subjected to severe financial hardship. Hence, to cause certain financial relief to the Islanders, he requested the Lt. Governor that the annual property tax being levied by the Port Blair Municipal Council from the owners of residential and commercial buildings, hoteliers etc under the jurisdiction of Municipal area may be charged only for nine months calculated on pro rate basis.
