Wimberly Gunj, May 08: In the midst of the nation-wide lockdown imposed due to the threat of Novel Corona Virus, a WHO declared pandemic, considering the deplorable condition of the living of migrant labours and daily wage earners, the Samastha Kendra Sunni Students Federation (SKSSF), a socio-religious organization headquartered at Wimberly Gunj took upon itself to reach out to these terribly stricken households with relief packages containing essential commodities for daily living.
With the subsequent extension in the lockdown and considering the fallout of these affected individuals, the organization scaled up its noble activities to reach out to more number of families.
With the active support of the community and volunteers and more importantly with the unabated blessings of the Almighty, the organization could reach out to 800 odd households in the rural pockets of Ferrargunj and Port Blair Tehsil. Nearly more than 5000 kg of Rice, 800 kg pulses, 800 kg sugar, 800 kg edible oil, 750 kg Wheat Flour, 800kg Salt, 1000 kg Onion/ Potato were distributed in the mammoth relief campaign the organization has conducted so far apart from other essential supplies such as Biscuits, Soaps, Tea Powder, Potato, Masala items etc.
The campaign also witnessed unique ‘convergence of humanity’ wherein in the containment zones, the frontline heroes of A&N Administration and A&N Police extended service for identification of needy households and assisting them with essential relief kits ensuing minimum movement of individuals.
The SKSSF, Andamans would like to take this opportunity and thank all the noble community members for being part of the campaign, it’s volunteers for their sheer selfless work and more importantly the A&N Administration for their unstinted support.
SKSSF, Andamans would continue with the campaign in the extended lockdown period and therefore urge one and all to be part of the campaign towards this noble cause.
