Port Blair, April 19: The President, Island Protection Forum, Mr. MT Mustafa has highly appreciated Mr. Abhijit Pandey, Director Fire Services, Kolkata who on request of IPF has helped a stretcher patient for shifting to Andaman Bhawan, Kolkata.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Mustafa stated that a patient viz. Anand Lakra suffering from Paralysis was approaching DRC Kolkata since last week requesting to shift him to Andaman Bhawan.
Unfortunately, the DRC couldn’t give due attention to his call following which the patient contacted IPF for help.
“On information, we contacted Mr. Abhijit Pandey, Director Fire Services, Kolkata, who is also an Island born and brought up in these Islands, without delay interfered into the matter and shifted the patient on 18th April 2020 to Andaman Bhawan, Kolkata with the support of West Bengal Fire and Emergency Services Department, vehicle and staff,” Mr. Mustafa said.
Further appreciating the efforts taken by the Andaman and Nicobar administration during this pandemic, he requested the CS to instruct officers posted at Mainland to take interest in the humanitarian ground during the tough times for the needy and stranded people at the mainland.
Mr. Mustafa suggested that if the ANISHI Cell, DHS, contacts the referred patients casually, they can short out the problems patients, if any.
