Port Blair, Apr 12: Due to recent lockdown, many people from Inter Island are stranded at Port Blair (vice versa) due to restriction of movement throughout A & N Islands. Request poured down from various areas to BJP leadership for arranging ships so that those peoples can get back to their homes.
In such view today, Mr. Ajoy Bairagi (State President, BJP, A&N Islands), Mr. M Vinod (State Vice President, BJP & President, AATO) and Mr. Sanjay Singh (State Vice President, BJP) met Mr. Sudhir Mahajan, IAS, Secretary (Shipping) and discussed about the above issue and briefed him about the hardship general public is facing due to unavailability of ships.
Secretary (shipping) acknowledged the issue and assured that Shipping department will provide ships on condition that all passengers must go through proper medical examination and clear it. A brief notification for the same will be published once all procedural clearance is received.
