Port Blair, Apr 12: Shri Kuleeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has taken up the matter with the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on 10.04.2020 requesting him to start the High Speed Submarine Optical Fibre Cable Internet connectivity operation at the earliest possible for the benefits of the Islanders since the project work costing Rs.1224 Crores has already been completed before the targeted time.
“Due to the COVID-19, all the students studying in different colleges at different parts of the country had to rush back to their home state of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Due to COVID – 19 everything is stand still and students, govt. employees, and other business institutions are advised to work from their home which will ease the concept of eBanking, eGovernance, eTrading, eProcurment, eTeaching so that the education of children shall not be hampered and which will make working more simple and reliable. Starting of OFC cable will give a new hope to the Islanders at this distressed time of COVID- 19.
