Port Blair, Feb 06: 12th Battalion of the JAT Regiment, presently stationed at Birchgunj Military station, celebrated its Golden Jubilee on 06 Feb 20. The Battalion was raised on 06th Feb 1970 at JAT Regimental Centre, Bareilly under the able leadership of Lieteunent Colonel Nand Lal. To commemorate this occasion, the unit celebrates 06th Feb each year as the Raising Day.
The occasion was celebrated over a period of two days. A wreath laying ceremony was conducted at the unit premises to pay homage to the Martyrs of the unit followed by prayers at unit ‘Sarv Dharma Sthal’.
All Ranks, veterans and Veer Naris of the Battalion celebrated the Golden Jubilee and its rich history was reminisced with great aplomb and sense of pride and veneration. The occasion was made further memorable as it was graced by various dignitaries who included Lt Gen SK Saini, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, Vice Chief of Army Staff and Colonel of the JAT Regiment and Lt Gen PS Rajeshwar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, Commander-in-Chief of Andaman & Nicobar Command.
