Port Blair, Jan 28: The Republic Day-2020 was celebrated with fanfare and enthusiasm in North and Middle Andaman District. At District Headquarter, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Awanish Kumar, IAS unfurled the National Flag at Netaji Sports Complex, Mayabunder at 0835 hours. The Chief Guest in his address outlined the achievements of various departments of the Administration and appreciated their efforts for bringing changes in the lives of the people and urged them to co-ordinate and co-operate with each other in the pursuit of the public interest. Various programmes were organized on the occasion. The Chief Guest visited Dr.R.P.Hospital after the events, interacted with the patients and the doctors and distributed sweets.
The celebration was culminated in the evening after “AT HOME” function organized at the Camp Office-cum-Residence of the Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman in which all the Heads of Offices, PRI members and other staff of the departments were present.
The Republic Day was also observed in a befitting manner in Rangat, Diglipur, Baratang, Billiground and Long Island. The love towards the Nation and sense of unity towards the national cause were displayed by the public from all walks of the life.
