Port Blair, Jan 21: A toddler of Prem Nagar area survived miraculously after falling into a drain this afternoon. According to reports a one year and 11 month old toddler was reported missing from Prem Nagar area, which is behind TSG Emerald View Hotel at around 2.00 PM.
The matter however again fueled the rumors of child lifting and the news spread like wildfire in entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
As soon as police got the reports, a team was formed under the leadership of Insp. Sanjay Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen and swung into action.
By 3.35 PM the Police Control Room got a call that some laborers have found a child inside a drain, behind Hotel Anchorage Inn.
It is believed that after falling inside the drain the toddler walked nearly 300 mtr under the main road of Phoenix Bay through the drain and reached the other side. After walking nearly 300 mtr the child got struck in water. Luckily he got struck in a place where another child spotted toddler and reported the matter to laborers working in nearby building, who later rescued the child.
