Port Blair, Jan 19:CGDHQ-10 (N) Campbell Bay on 17 Jan 20 integrates tribal community of Chingan village in Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS), a janandolan for swachhata in the pristine beach of Great Nicobar Island focused on plastic waste management, to eliminate harmful effect of uncollected plastic waste washed ashore from ocean. The program comprised of awareness generation, preparation and Swachhata Shramdaan. Few games were also organised in order to make the event full of fun and frolic for the participants.Young children, ladies including elders of the community participated with enthusiasm.Locals of the area lauded the efforts & expressed their desire for continuation of similar drive. As a token of appreciation Coast Guard personnel distributed stationery to the school going children.
Further, this opportunity was utilized to conduct a medical camp and special emphasis was laid on to sensitize them on personal hygiene and prevention of anaemia by screening an audio visual.The tribal captain expressed his gratitude for the initiative taken by Coast Guard which has benefited a large number of women and children.
