Port Blair, Jan 19: With an idea to make India fit, the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair organized ‘Fit India Cycle Day’, a 5 KM cycle and walkathon Rally. The rally was organized in various places of South Andaman District, Ferrargunj, Manahar Ghat and Manpur are some of them.
About 100 cyclists participated and about 50 youths participated in walkathon.
Another rally was organised at Little Andaman Block, where 70 participants participated in both cycle and walkathon Rally.
In the District Level Programme, a mass cyclathon and walkathon Rally was organised by District Administration, in which Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair was also involved.
The rally was flagged off by Ms Kriti Garg, IAS, Secretary Education and Sports Andaman and Nicobar Administration at Netaji stadium.
Around 300 youths participated in the rally in which participated 150 youths were from youth clubs affiliated to NYK Port Blair. The rally covered Aberdeen Bazaar, Bengali Club, Middle Point, Junglighat, Dairyfarm and culminated at Netaji Stadium.
On this occasion winners and runner-ups of Kabaddi tournament that was held at Brookshabad on 16th January, 2020 were awarded by Dr UN Choudhry, Assistant Director Sports and Mr Ranjit Kumar, Assistant Director, Sports, Mr Joy Pinto, Block Sports Officer, Wimberlygunj and Mr Abdul Basheer, Coordinator Nai Manzil (NGO). The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Mohd. Tarique Shah, DYC , NYK Port Blair.
