Port Blair, Jan 02: On 1/1/2020 a Traveler Vehicle being driven negligently at high speed, reportedly hit a Moped at Wandoor road. The moped rider Mr. D.K.Poddar, a Forester and a resident of Hashmatabad died on the spot while the pillion rider, his son sustained grievous injuries.
The Traveler driver reportedly escaped from the spot. On information PS Humphrey Gunj Staffs rushed to the spot and brought the victims to PHC Manglutan, where doctor declared the moped rider dead and his son was referred to G B Pant Hospital.
The investigation was entrusted to SI Shubham and a team of PS Humphrey Gunj. The team arrested the accused within an hour and case has been registered us 279/304a/338 IPC rws 134/187 MV Act.
The local people lauded the efforts of police for such quick Action.
