Port Blair, Dec 23: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Rangat in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College Mayabunder & Supported by : National Institute of Social Defence (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India) was organized Awareness Programme on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse at Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College Mayabunder on 21-12-2019. In which Dr. B.Prabhuram, Principal of Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College Mayabunder was the chief guest. In the beginning of the Programme Shri Vadivel, Asst Professor welcomed the chief guest, other guest and participants and briefed about the importance of the programme.
The main objective of the programme was to aware the Youths about bad habit of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Altogether 100 Participants participated in this Programme. During the Programme IEC Material also distributed to all the participants.
(1) Dr. Ajitha Narendran, Assistant professor, Dept. of commerce covered the topic of Basics of Drug Abuse (Drugs and Types of Drugs) & Reasons for taking drugs
(ii) Dr. B.Prabhuram, Principal covered the topic of Progression and ill-effects of drugs Community response to drugs and its menace .
(iii) Dr. Manik Mali, Asst Professor covered the topic of How to stay away from drugs . (iv) Shri Vadivel Asst. Prof. covered the topic of Basic information about legal and illicit drugs.
At the end of the Programme Shri Jag Jeevan Ram District Youth Coordinator, NYK Rangat also appealed to the youth to spread this awareness programme to the Rural Area and to prevent the Alcoholism & Drug Abuse activities. He thanked the Principal of Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College Mayabunder , Resource Person, & Participants for making a successful Programme.
