Port Blair, Dec 23: The School of Vocational Education & Training of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a new programme- Diploma in Modern Office Practice (DMOP). The Secretaries and Office Assistants play an important and versatile role in the modern office environment. They are expected to have thorough Knowledge of office management and procedures along with excellent communication and organization skills. The current business environment is demanding multi talented secretaries and office assistants. The DMOP programme has combined conventional practices of Secretaries and Office Assistant’s job with computer aided management techniques. The programme will generate competent and skilled personnel at the entry level in any sector of employment. After completing the programme, the learner would be able to: Develop competency in Communication Skills, Develop proficiency in Stenographic Skills, Develop competency in handling office machines, Operate PC on window operating system, Understand how to manage Office records, filing & indexing, office management methods & practices and inventory control.
The One year DMOP programme in English medium, fees Rs.6000/- for full programme, consists of 5 courses: Communication skills, Computer skills, Secretarial practice, Stenographic Skills and official procedure worth 32 credits. 10+2 or its equivalent is eligible for Diploma in Modern Office Practice. Initially the programme will be offered through Regional Centre, Jaipur and Darbhanga.
