Mayabunder, Dec 12: The State Transport Service, Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been requested by the District Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman, Mr Awanish Kumar today to reserved 25 seats in the night bus service from Mayabunder to Port Blair for the public of Basantipur, Harinagar, Swadeshnagar and Sivapuram Panchayats. Earlier only 15 seats were reserved for these areas in the said bus.
As per reports, today the DC was informed by the STS Authorities that the night bus plying from Mayabunder to Port Blair mostly goes without sufficient number of passengers but even though, the residents of Basantipur, Harinagar, Swadeshnagar and Sivapuram Panchayat faces hurdles to get the tickets of the same bus, following which the DC reportedly made the above request after consulting with Directorate of Transport.
The DC North and Middle has also instructed the STS Authorities to allocate 10 tickets of the aforesaid bus to the Billyground STS Counter.
