Port Blair, Dec 10: There is bad news for the commercial vehicle owners who have applied for second or more commercial vehicle permit (Tourist Vehicle Permit) as the department has decided not to issue second or more Tourist Vehicle Permit to one person.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Director Transport, Dr. Navlendra Kumar Singh has clarified that to cater the tourists, visiting these Islands there are sufficient vehicles and there is no lack of balance and therefore, to preserve the natural beauty, permits will not be given to the vehicle owners who are already having several vehicles with tourist permit, from now.
Dr Navlendra Kumar Singh however, added that, permit will be issued only to those who are Islanders and had applied for the first time.
The Director Transport also said that, permit for Cargo Vehicles is already being given as the Cargo Vehicles carries essential commodities for public.
