Port Blair, Dec 10: The Pradhan of Pahalgaon Gram Panchayat and an active member of Bhartiya Janta Party, Mr. Shivananda Bairagi has made his mind to take up the matter of attack on him, with the Director General of Police, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and if required he will also knock the doors of the Home Ministry under the guidance of State President, Bhartiya Janta Party, Mr Vishal Jolly.
Clarifying his stand, Mr Bairagi told Andaman Sheekha today that because he publically informed that the Panchayat Samity has not given him the No Objection Certificate to construct a Community toilet under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Tugapur No. 08 near Shibla Temple, during the meet of Gram Panchayat Development Plan, he was attacked by Mamta Lakra, a close aide of the Pramukh of the area.
“I also doubt the involvement of Police in this case as it is the first ever Gram Sabha when the police left the venue before the Gram Sabha was over,” said Mr Shivananda alleged.
On 7th December 2019, during the GPDP meeting Mr Shivananda was attacked by a lady namely Mamta Lakra following which he suffered head injuries.
Mr. Shivananda Bairagi also expressed his anguish over the fact that despite the deadly attack on him no FIR was lodged by the Police Department.
