Port Blair, Dec 10: During night patrolling carried out on 07.12.2019 at 2300 hours, a team of Forest officials comprising Foresters Shri Barendra Bairagi, Shri Najariyus Bara and Forest Guard Shri Zakir Hussain at Humfrygunj, intercepted a Maruti Omni bearing registration No.AN 01-C-7458 which was going towards Kalimandir, Humfrygunj. During checking of the vehicle, 09 pieces of pyinma hand sawn timber (0.2516 cbm.) was found laden in the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle identified as Krishna Rao, S/o. Late N.Jairam of Humfrygunj village was arrested and the vehicle along with the timber was seized on the spot. Further, based on the information disclosed by him, two other people identified as Saravanan and M.Somasundram both R/o. Humfrygunj were arrested and 08 pieces of padauk hand sawn timber of various sizes (measuring 0.0324 cbm.) and sawing tools were seized from the godown of Shri Krishna Rao. A Forest Offence case has been registered agaisnt them under relevant sections of Indian Forest Act, 1927.
Earlier in the morning, another team of Forest officials comprising Shri Anand Prakash Tirkey, Head Forest Guard along with Shri P.K.Mohammed Shafique, Forest Guard and Mazdoors namely Hasan Ali, Sunil Majhi, Patrick Toppo during their usual beat combing exercise at Ograbraj Beat, seized 17 pieces of hand sawn padauk timber measuring 0.4462 cbm. from Mushlim Basti revenue area. A Forest Offence case has been registered under relevant sections of IFA, 1927.
