Port Blair, Dec 09: In an unprecedented development in Middle Andaman Andaman, the Pradhan of Pahalgaon Panchayat Mr. Shivananda Bairagi was attacked and injured by a lady during Gram Sabha meeting on 7th December 2019.
According to reports, the Pradhan of Pahalgaon Panchayat had called Gram Sabha meeting on Saturday during which there was some heated arguments and during the arguments on some political issues, a lady who was already carrying some stones in a bag, pelting stones on the Pradhan, injuring him badly. The lady was later identified as Mamta Lakra.
Soon the Pradhan was taken to nearest hospital, where he got five stitches on his forehead. The matter has been reported to police after which a complaint has been lodged and the matter is being investigated by Police.
Meanwhile taking Suo Moto action the Assistant Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Mr Mohan Kumar has directed both the parties to appear before him tomorrow in this case. Further details are awaited.
