Port Blair, Sept 03: Since last four months, 12 year old Praveen Dung Dung has been going through hell everyday. Suffering from Demyclinating disorder, Multiple Sclerosis, the girl cries all day and night. Not just crying but screaming tears down the heart of her parents.
“She had unbearable pain on her shoulder and neck, which has now shifted to her head. We need two persons to hold her steady,” Harmon Dung Dung father of the girl told Andaman Sheekha today.
As even after best efforts the condition of the girl did not improve in Andaman, the Health department has now referred the girl to Mainland for specialized treatment. But for the parents, shifting their daughter looks like and impossible task.
Though the family does not belong to BPL category but still the family is financially very weak. Taking their daughter to mainland for treatment seems like an impossible task. But, as there is no other option the family has now decided to shift the child to mainland tomorrow but no one in the family knows from where they will get all money for the girl’s treatment.
“Anyhow we are taking her to mainland tomorrow,” Harmon, the worried father told Andaman Sheekha, still holding her daughter, who was screaming laud, because of unbearable pain.
For the family, financial assistance from LG’s relief fund seems to be the only solution. In several occasions in past, the Lt. Governor of A & N Islands has come forward and issued financial assistance for the treatment of poor patients. Hope this time also the girl gets some money from LG’s relief fund for her treatment.
