Port Blair, Dec 02: Several parents of Betapur region today did not allow their children to attend schools, in protest of the pathetic condition of NH4 and the severe dust pollution caused in Betapur region over NH4 for not spraying water by the concerned contractors.
Andaman Sheekha had earlier also highlighted that how school going children are suffering heavily for the cloud of dust over NH4, caused due to negligence of the road contractors.
Fearing health hazard and to attract attention of the Administration many parents today did not send their children to the school.
Although the phone number of concerned school incharge and Pradhans of Pachayats in Betapur region were out of reach today due to pathetic BSNL network, highly placed sources told Andaman Sheekha that today in Padmapuran School (Class I to Class VIII) there were only 17 students out of 128 and in Shivapuram School (Class I to Class VIII) there were only 03 students out of 15.
This is high time that the Deputy Commissioner of N & M Andaman set strict rules for contractors of NHIDCL to spray water over earthen road several times daily to minimize the dust pollution over NH4.
