Mayabunder, Nov 03: The residents of Swadeshnagar, Thoratang and CFO Nallah of North and Middle Andaman were ‘on top of the world’ when they saw heavy vehicles, including Private buses, recently started plying over the newly constructed Thoratang Hume Pipe Bridge, thinking that all their suffering of extra travelling for 4-5 km, will come to an end.
But after days gone, when the buses of State Transport Service haven’t started plying over the bridge, residents got highly frustrated about this and questioned the authorities of STS.
As per reports, the residents of the aforesaid areas recently met the Assistant Engineer, STS and questioned him why the STS buses are not plying over the newly constructed Thoratang Hume Pipe Bridge, to which the AE reportedly replied that STS unit has not received any correspondence either from NHIDCL or Administration to use the route. The AE, STS also said the residents that he alone cannot take any decision individually in this regard.
“Sometimes Government agencies in Andaman behave as if the departments are controlled by different governments? Why there is so much lack of coordination? Because of their carelessness we are suffering,” few residents of Swadeshnagar told Andaman Sheekha.
“Since last 04 months we had to change our entire schedule as our time gets consumed travelling 04-05kms extra and the agencies instead of making things speedy and easier, are making things more complicated,” said another resident of CFO Nallah.
Andaman Sheekha tried to connect with the Manager, NHIDCL, Mr Manoj Verma but he was unavailable over phone.
The residents of aforesaid areas are now demanding the administration and the NHIDCL to communicate with the STS to bring an end to the conundrum they are facing since last 04-05 months.
