Port Blair, Oct 31: Central Crime Station police in its continuous efforts against bootlegging & illegal activities, succeed in a big catch of IMFL.
The PS CCS staff is working hard to eradicate the menace of bootlegging and illegal sale of illicit liquor during the Diwali festival. Vigorous effort is being made to catch the bootlegger & drug peddlers, so that the youth and society does not fall prey to them. As a result of this one bootlegger was arrested by a patrolling team of PS Central Crime Station comprising Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, SHO, PS CCS, ASI Vijay Shankar, Constable Hari Krishna Yadav, K. Rajendran & P. K. Mondal on 28/10/19. On patrolling in Junglighat area the team noticed a person in a shaky condition with two bags in his possession waiting for someone. While frisking him and checking his both the bags the team recovered 210 Nos. bottle of IMFL. On asking his name and address he disclosed the same as Om Kumar Thapa S/o Shri. Sher Bahadur Thapa (50) yrs R/o Phoenix Bay. He admitted that he carried IMFL with intention to sell them to local persons at a good price in this festival season. He told Police that he wanted to make good money in this festival season of Diwali by selling liquor in the local area. He was arrested and cases under excise Regulations have been registered against him. The entire operation was monitored by Shri Abhishek Gupta, Dy. SP(CID) & over all supervision of Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police (CID), A&N Islands.
The Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these Islands free from anti-social activity and keeping strict vigil over storage and selling of illicit liquor, IMFL and smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substance in these Islands. General Public have been requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, 9474233832 & 8900910419. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
