Port Blair, Oct 17: To create awareness about Food, Nutrition, fight against hunger and partnership among different stake holders, the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, A&N Administration in coordination with Directorate of Health Services, Port Blair organized World Food Day yesterday at Government Secondary School Calicut. The theme adopted for this year is ‘Our Actions are Our Future: Healthy Diets for a # Zero Hunger World’.
Speaking on the occasion the resource person, Dr. Avijit Roy, Deputy Director, Health, A&N Administration highlighted about the dramatically changing diets and eating patterns as a result of globalization, urbanization and income growth. Shri Aneesh Chatterjee, Assistant Director (CS&CA) informed about National Food Security Act, which mandates for Food & Nutritional Security in human life cycle approach by ensuring access to adequate quantity of quality food at affordable prices to people to live a life with dignity.
Smt. Anima, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Calicut also interacted with the students and urges them to move towards healthy food habits. Smt. Jahan Ara Ali, Vice Principal, GSS Calicut welcomed the gathering.
