Port Blair, Sept 27: Officers of 59th National Defence College (NDC) Course visited Andaman & Nicobar Islands from 22nd to 26th September 2019. The course officers were briefed on all aspects of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the visit.
During visits to military components, they were exposed to the critical sensitivities of the Islands and plans for development. The environmental and ecological sensitivities of the Islands were at the core of their briefing, so that higher military leadership remains sensitive to the security and development issues in these pristine islands. This visit will help to equip future policy makers and military leadership with the background necessary to give them a broad understanding of the varied economic, political, military, scientific and organizational aspects involved in planning of national strategy. The course officers also visited Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep, Swaraj Dweep, Car Nicobar and Cellular Jail.
NDC is a premier training establishment located in New Delhi and is the highest seat of strategic learning for senior leadership of the Indian Defence Forces. The course is widely subscribed to by officers from the Civil Services and attended by many friendly foreign countries. The college grooms strategic leadership for national and international security matters and also acts as a think tank on defence matters and is instrumental in shaping the Indian Defence outlook.
