Port Blair, Sept 24: The NSS UNIT-03 of JNRM celebrated foundation day of the National Service Scheme. Responding to the clarion call of Hon’ble Prime Minister regarding “Swachhta Hi Sewa” NSS volunteers of JNRM earlier organized an intensive cleanliness drive along with Indian Cost Guard Region in the on coastal areas surrounding Marina Park to mark the International Coastal Cleanup Day on 21st September 2019. The Principal JNRM, Dr. N. Francis Xavier, chief guest of the occasion appreciated the NSS volunteers for their active participation in maintaining campus neat and clean. The guest of honour Mr. Nilesh Kumar Kalbhor, Joint Director Press Information Bureau, Port Blair lauded the efforts of the NSS in awakening the sense of social service among the youth of the country. Dr. Vivek Kumar sahu, PO, Unit 03 speaks upon the nature and duties of NSS volunteer. Various faculty members from different disciplines of the JNRM also addressed the gathering on the occasion. The program witnessed cultural events in which the NSS volunteers showcased their talents. The NSS Programme Officers of other NSS units , Dr Santosh Kumar Jha and Dr. K Venkatesh were also present and address the gathering on the occasion. An intercollegiate Poster competition is also organized to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
