Port Blair, Sept 24: Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) will organise a Trans-Himalaya Motorcycle Expedition, “TRISHKTI-19” to commemorate 19th Raising Day celebrations. The expedition will be flagged off from New Delhi on 28th Sep 2019 and shall culminate back at New Delhi on 06th October 2019 via Manali, Rohtang Pass and Spiti Valley. The expedition will cover a total distance of approximately 1500 Km. Expedition Tri-Shakti is being undertaken by a team of sixteen male and female officers of the three Defence Services posted at various units under the Command.
The Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC, met the team of officers today to motivate them prior to their departure for this rigorous activity. Besides the members playing the role of Goodwill Ambassadors, the expedition is also a platform for the ANC to undertake a drive to increase awareness about the A & N Islands among the people of the Himalayan region, to sensitize them about the key issue being faced by the Islands and other such tourist locations, namely, marine pollution and its ill effects on marine life and to educate and motivate children in the region about the Defence Forces.
