Addressing the media person, he said that immediate relief should be given to all tsunami farmers of the islands and no land should be acquired for giving relief.
“BJP was of the belief that after 8 years of the devastating tsunami and earthquake most of the concerns relating to relief and rehabilitation might have been settled but much to the dismay of the party, the farming community here is still in a state of unrest and distress as some of their basic rights have been deprived of by the Govt. of India,” Mr Rajnath Singh said.
Mr. Singh also mentioned that keeping in view the historical and strategic significance of Viper island, it should be declared as a national monument. He was not in favour of development of tourism activities on Viper Island.
