Mayabunder, Sept 20: The Central Government has launched a Central Flagship Programme of Poshan Maah programme to take forward Nutrition Mission from Sept 1 to 30, 2019 to provide nutrition to every household by 2022 and some of its main objectives to prevent and reduce stunting, under nutrition, anemia, low birth weight, etc. in children 0 to 6 years and targeted group of children, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating mothers.Accordingly, the ICDS Project, Rangat organized a cycle rally at Mayabunder with an objective to spread out awareness on the Rastriya Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission). The month of September, 2019 is dedicated for promotion of Nutrition and Health, considering the importance for growth and development of the children, pregnant and lactating mothers. The activities are being carried out throughout the month in convergence with Social Welfare, Health, Education and other line Departments under the supervision of District Administration. Shri Mohan Kumar, Assistant Commissioner(HQ), Mayabunder flagged off Cycle Rally at District Office, N&M Andaman, Lucknow, Mayabunder. The Assistant Commissioner and the Child Development Project Officer, ICDS Project Rangat, Smt Banamala Adhikary spoke on Poshan Maah before flagging off cycle rally. During Cycle Rally Anganwadi workers exhibited placards and banners with slogan ‘Sahi Poshan Desh Roshan ’&‘ Har Ghar Poshan Vyavahar’. The Cycle Rally commenced from District Office, Lucknow and culminated at Mayabunder Bazaar, where the Deputy Commissioner (N&M Andaman), Shri Awanish Kumar highlighted the significance of observing the ‘Poshan Maah’.
