Port Blair, Sept 16: Catastrophically, the Thoratang Bridge had collapsed twice in recent past giving horrible time to people of North and Middle Andaman and also troubling ATR passengers equally.
The collapse of the bridge had also caused shortage of commodities in North and Middle Andaman.
Although the Thoratang Bridge is almost ready now people of North and Middle Andaman are deeply worried about Panchawati Bridge, considering the damages caused in recent days in the middle portion of the bridge.
Several residents of North and Middle Andaman have highlighted this issue with Andaman Sheekha Correspondent and also PRI members. “It seems soon there will be a hole in the Panchawati Bridge and if this bridge collapses, again people of North and Middle Andaman will have to pay heavy price,” said a resident of Middle Andaman.
This is high time for the NHIDCL to examine the condition of Panchawati Bridge immediately and repair it as soon as possible.
Already due to total careless work of NHIDCL contractors entire North and Middle Andaman are suffering heavily. One wonders if the NHIDCL knew that during rainy season it is not possible to lay new road stretch, what was the need to dig the entire road stretch of North and Middle Andaman? Presently one has to almost slide thought ATR with their vehicles in North and Middle Andaman.
