Billyground, Sept 01: A two days workshop/seminar held on 30 and 31 August 2019 in the Roman Catholic Church hall and Jama Masjid hall, Mayabunder, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The workshop was organized by HP Rural Entrepreneurship Development and Consultancy Organisation (HP REDCOS) in which the masses were made aware about various schemes for the welfare of minority communities, which are being run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India.
In the workshop, nearly 130 people especially students from the minority community of the District Mayabunder took part. During this workshop, the HP REDCOS members gave information and awarded the masses about the various schemes being run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt of India to the people of said community.
Smt. Banamala Adhikary, child development project officer(CDPO), Parimal Kumar Mistry, Extension officer, Sh. Balwant Singh Thakur, director, HP.REDCOS, Mr Rakesh Rana, treasurer, HP.REDCOS in his address informed the minority community regarding various schemes like Pre Matric, Post Matric, Merit cum Means scholarship, Prime Minister 15 points program and other schemes being provided to the beneficiaries of the minority community by the ministry of minority affairs, the Government of India. The Father Johnson (Roman Catholic Church), Abdul Siddiqui, (ex Pramukh) and member of Jama masjid committee shared a major problem of bad internet connectivity during the event.
They pointed out that students and their parents came to Mayabunder from their villages having spent money, time, etc. to fill the online form and they get nothing. They said it would be better to either improve the internet connectivity in the region or provide offline form submission option.
