Port Blair, September 1: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr K R Meena launched the voter’s verification drive under Electors Verification Programme for the islanders in a function at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman’s office here today. Hereafter, the voters of the island can check, authenticate and verify their and their respective families’ EPIC details online using website www.nvsp.in in five easy steps. Thus an online self-verification process has been started for creating fool-proof voter list.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Meena informed the gathering about the new approach that has been adopted by Election Commission for the elector’s verification and a nationwide drive has been initiated for the same. He called on the officers and staff present on the occasion to spread awareness about the new approach amongst their families and friends.
He further informed that those voters who do not have access to the internet can verify their respective EPIC details using 71 Common Service Centres spread throughout the Islands. “These centres have been linked with polling stations of the area. Voter Felicitation Centres have also been established at all the Tehsil Headquarters in the islands for such voters”, he added. Voters can also approach BLOs and AROs for any assistance regarding verification query. He emphasised that every voter must verify himself/herself during the drive. “Every voter must verify by uploading one of the Identity proof”, he elaborated. He appealed especially to youngsters and women of the islands to join the drive and make it a success. Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman Mr Abhishek Dev proposed the vote of thanks. The Voter’s Verification Drive will be carried out from 1st of September to 15th of October 2019.
