Port Blair, Aug 30: On the occasion of Celebrating the 114th birth anniversary of Major Dhyanchand the legendary sports person India, the Nicobar district police organised a “Volleyball Tournament” at the Southern-most Island of India, Great Nicobar Island.
The chief guest of the event was Assistant Commissioner Campbell bay Mr. Mukesh Kumar (DANICS) and the PRI and all the HODs were invited, the Tournament was held from 24 to 29 August in which 12 teams participated and the final match was played between Afra Bay and 172 TA Madras Army which was an interesting match.The final was won by Afra Bay by 3-2, and the Best player was also given to the Mr. Jeoffrey an emerging player of Afra Bay.
The tournament was organised in order to promote sportsmanship and create awareness among youth against the drug addiction.
