Port Blair, Aug 23: The Port Blair, the capital city of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been given a colourful facelift, as heavyweight leaders of both Congress and Bharatiya Janta Party will be visiting the city for next three days.
Mr Rajnath Singh, MP, Ex-National President, BJP and Mr. Janardhan Dwivedi, General Secretary, All India Congress Committee will be arriving tomorrow for two different programmes.
According to reports, Mr. Janardhan Dwivedi, General Secretary, AICC will unveil the statue of Late Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India, infront of Indira Bhawan, the office building of Port Blair Municipal Council on 25 August 2012 at 3.00pm while on the same day Mr. Rajnath Singh will address a Public Meeting at Island Festival Ground (ITF) Ground of Port Blair.
“Mr. Rajnath Singh will mainly raise the issue of sacred Island, Viper Island, where Administration is setting up a Yacht Marina. He will also highlight other issues like submerged lands of Tsunami, scandal in the construction of sluice gates etc,” Mr. R Mohan the President of Andaman and Nicobar State BJP unit told UNI today.
Workers of Congress and BJP are virtually in a race to occupy as much space as possible for put flags of BJP and Congress along the roads of Port Blair city.
Welcome arches and massive sheds are also being constructed by workers of both the parties to impress their respective National Leaders.
