Port Blair, Aug 23: The President, Pradesh Congress Committee Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma along with the Directors of the Consumers Co-operative Stores limited met the Chief Secretary Mr Anand Prakash today and urged him to provide transport subsidy for carrying essential commodities to various islands.
Mr Sharma informed the CS that CCS is selling the essential commodities in remote Islands on the rates at par with the Port Blair market bearing the transportation and other charges.
Mr Sharma has also appraised him about an amount of Rs 5 Lakhs which was granted by the AN Administration to the CCS as transport subsidy but was stopped since 2009-10 for reasons unknown.
