Port Blair, August 18: Under Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP), the State TB Control Society, Port Blair organized awareness programme on TB & new treatment strategyDOTs at Anganwadi CentrChouldari and GSSS Tushnabad.
Mr Tapan Kumar Ray, IEC Officer, STBCS spoke about the transmission, clinical manifestations, prevention and control of TB. The public was also sensitized about TB/HIV co-infection, the ill-effect of alcoholism and smoking, particularly in relation to the treatment of TB. The gathering was urged to propagate the message to the neighbourhood and in the community.
