Port Blair, August 18: In collaboration with Nerlige Foundation, (Bangalore), an “ANTI DRUG AWARENESS AND PREVENTION PROGRAMME” was organized in Andaman College, Chakkargoan, Port Blair, on 17 Aug 2019. Dr S. Jayakumar, Principal, ANCOL welcomed the Chief Guest, Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the MP of our islands, other dignitaries and appraised them about the college progress.
Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, MP, expressed his views “About the current situation of drug abuse among the youths in the islands”. As a youth leader, he encouraged the students to stand against the usage of drugs. Guest of Honour “Mrs Sandhya Swami, IPS A & N Police, also expressed her views, on “Usage of Drugs, and its ill effects.” Ms Mamatha Nerlige, Chairman, THE NERLIGE FOUNDATION, as a Special Guest highlighted the “Extreme consequences of drug abuse in a person’s life”. Mr P. Jeevan, S.I. & S.H.O. Aberdeen also stressed on “Drug Addiction and its Legal Consequences in the Society”.
The Special invitees of the programme, Mr John Robert (Director TV 24), Mrs Mariam Bibi (Ex-Chairman – Zilla Parishad), Mrs Ratna Kannan (Ex-Chairperson Social Welfare Board), Mr Gyan Prakash, Gen. Secretary (INTUC) also spoke on the issue.
