Port Blair, Aug 23: The Coast Guard Intra Region Swimming Championship 2012 was conducted at Command Swimming Pool, Minnie Bay from 21-23 Aug 12. ICGS Bhikhaiji Cama and C-146 were the conducting units for the championship. All Coast Guard ships and establishments of the A&N Region were divided into 04 Teams for the championship, who participated in a total of 10 events. Finals of the championship was conducted on 23 Aug 12. IG VSR Murthy, President Tatrakshak Medal, Tatrakshak Medal, Commander Coast Guard (Andaman & Nicobar) was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
The Team consisting of CG Air Enclave (Port Blair) and CG District HQ-9, Diglipur was declared the overall winner of the Championship. The Team consisting of ICGS Aruna Asaf Ali, ICGS Akkadevi, C-146 and ICGS (HBY), was the Runners up. The teams were awarded the Winners and Runners up rolling trophy. In addition, winners and runners up prizes for each event was also awarded along with prize for best swimmer of the event which was awarded to Comdt Arvind Sharma, Chief Staff Officer (Personnel & Administration), RHQ (A&N). The prizes and trophies were presented by IG VSR Murthy, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard (Andaman & Nicobar) and DIG MA Warsi, Chief of Staff (Andaman & Nicobar).
