Port Blair, July 22: Mr. Abhay Kumar, President of LOTE, a NGO, has written a request letter to the Director of Shipping Service of Andaman and Nicobar Administration regarding the issue of stationing vehicle ferry vessel at Bambooflat jetty for the patients of the Bambooflat and nearby areas, especially at night hours.
In his letter, he said that previously there used to be an emergency vehicle Ferry at night time for providing emergency evacuation to the patient of the region. This was continued for a few months and it helped a lot of emergency patients.
But recently for no reasons, the vehicle ferry, which used to be kept stationed at Bambooflat jetty was being replaced by normal ferry. “The vehicle ferry provides smooth shifting of patients without any complications,” he mentioned.
Mr Abhay Kumar requested the DSS to station a vehicle ferry at Bambooflat Jetty, which is perfect for carrying critical patients, especially at night hours.
