Port Blair, July 18: As some colleges in Andaman have reserved 10 percent seats for students of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) as per Government of India Directions and one department has also declared reserved post for EWS, there is a huge confusion among local youths about issue of the same certificate in Andaman.
On the issue of EWS Certificate in Andaman when Andaman Sheekha contacted the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr. Udit Prakash Rai he said that the District Administration has not received any direction about issue of this certificate from MHA. But as some candidates are now coming and demanding for the same. The District Administration has devised a mechanism to issue the EWS certificate by getting income certificate from local Tehsilder and checking in local database of land record, whether the concerned candidate have any land more than 5 acre.
Mr. Rai said that as per guidelines the candidate should not have more than 5 acres land anywhere in the country for EWS certificate. “But how Tehsilder Port Blair can check this?” he questioned. So the District Administration checks local database on land record and based on that the certificate is issued, he added.
But on wonder if tomorrow someone gets a job in Central Government with locally issued EWS Certificate and someone else challenges the certificate in court, then will this EWS Certificate, issued by local Administration stand in court?
