Billyground, July 17: Recently villagers of four Gram Panchayat i.e Sivapuram, Swadeshnagar, Harinagar,Basantipur and many PRI members had organized a massive protest at Billyground under the banner of Green Island Foundation.
The protest was withdrawn after the Deputy Commissioner of N & M Andaman, Mr. Awanish Kumar promised to solve the problems in a time bound manner.
According to details, keeping his words, the Deputy Commissioner has solved many issues in no time, for which the villagers of Middle Andaman have lauded the Deputy Commissioner.
As per details after the protest was withdrawn the DC directed the concerned DEO and inaugurated the Zonal Library at Billyground within three days. He made tremendous efforts to manage the shortage of Medical staffs issue of PHC Billyground and consequently some staff shortage have been reduced at PHC Billyground.
Not only this recently various posts of Health Department under the NRHM Middle Andaman District were advertised because of his efforts.
He also reserved 15 seats for the public of these areas in STS Night Bus Service, which operates between Port Blair and Mayabunder.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Deputy Commissioner said that if the Pradhan of Harinagar demands more CSCs at Billyground for public convenience, he will definitely sanction one more CSC at Billyground. Adding more the DC has also directed the EE (ZP) to undertake repair work of village roads and culverts.
Call it an impact of Public Protest or sincere work of Deputy Commissioner of N & M Andaman, the point is that some works are happening on the ground for the benefit of people of Middle Andaman, for which people of Middle Andaman have lauded the efforts of the DC.
