Port Blair, June 18: A day light burglary was reported from a Jewellery shop of Port Blair city, Shree Guru Jewellers, situated near Netaji Ground.
According to reports, the Burglary took place in lunch time when the owner of the shop had gone for lunch. After the owner returned and opened shop he found all his Jewellery, worth Rs. 7 Lakh, missing. He also saw that adjacent, Dry Cleaning shop, owned by him is also closed and the workers, a couple, are also missing.
Later police learnt that the couple Mr. Vinod Thakur and wife took a flight for Kolkata from Port Blair. Soon the Kolkata Police was intimated about this.
Sadly even after written intimation Kolkata Police could arrest only the husband from Kolkata Airport while the wife managed to escape with gold. Further investigation is on.
