Port Blair, June 16: A major land-sliding was reported inside Jarawa Reserve area of Andaman Trunk Road on the intervening night of 14 and 15 June 2019. Because of the land-sliding at 13 km area after Jirkatang Check Post, the first convoy of ATR could not cross the area.
Talking immediate action teams of PS Bambooflat, PS Baratang, NHIDCL and Forest Department reached the spot and with hard efforts by 6.00 pm the road was cleared and passage was made for smooth movement of ATR.
Good part is that even while working throughout the day ATR vehicles were allowed to cross the land-sliding zone with extreme precaution and that is why by evening, no vehicle was stranded at ATR.
