Port Blair, May 06: Central Crime Station of Andaman and Nicobar Police, in its continuous efforts to crackdown illegal Narcotics in A&N Islands, arrested two drug peddlers. On 04/05/2019 after receiving credible information a team comprising Inspr. Mahesh Yadav, SHO PS CCS, SI Mohammed Elias, SI V.Siva Kumar, SI T.Dilla Rao, Head ConstableV. Hentho, Constable Chandran, Rajendran, N. Thangaraj and P.K Mondal were constituted and subsequently a raid was conducted in the premises of Bharath Bahadur R/o. Bargath Line Corbyn’s Cove and recovered 02 Nos. Cannabis Plant, which were found to be cultivated back side of his house and further raiding team found a courier parcel containing 600 grams of Illicit Ganja.
On interrogation it was found that Ganja was brought through courier services. Earlier on 02/05/2019, 2.100 Kgs of Illicit Ganja was found from the possession of drug peddler Barun Sarkar R/o. Bhatu Basti, which he used to sell to youth. The illicit ganja was seized on the spot and both the accused were arrested under the relevant sections of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985. The entire raid was lead by Inspr. Mahesh Yadav, SHO PS CCS and Dy. SP(CID) under the overall supervision of Sh. Manoj.C, IPS, SP(CID).
The Central Crime Station (CCS) units of Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making this Island free from Narcotics drugs and keeping strict vigil over smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substance in these Islands. General Public have been requested to pass on credible information on narcotics substance, illegal sale of liquor, gambling or any illegal activity on the telephone numbers: 233307, 232586, 100, 9474233832, & 9531856294. The informer will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret, in a release SP (CID), Andaman & Nicobar Islands said.
