Port Blair, Apr 24: Here is a good news for people of Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island). The Superintending Engineer of Electricity Department, Mr. Uttam Kumar Paul today said that the Department is sending a 750 KVA DG set to Swaraj Dweep tomorrow to deal with the power crisis of the Island.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Paul said that there are three, 01 MW DG sets at Havelock each having different output level and out of these three one DG set has developed some technical problems, which has created the power crisis.
Now to deal with the situation one 750 KVA DG set is being sent to Swaraj Dweep which will probably be installed on Thursday and by Sunday or Monday the people will get partial relief.
He said after this DG set is installed people will get power round the clock but still there will be some gap in power production and power need, hence hotel and resort owners will be asked to run DG sets during peak hours.
